Batik bamboo, white and green

We have been keeping batik bamboo in pots for a long long time. These bamboo grow at a very slow rate and they will take a couple of years to congest the pot. We have two species, one with a more green and the other with more white on the leaves... They are nice and sweet in their own way. We water them daily.

more green

more white

  3. Beautiful leaves! They are so very different from any bamboo that grows in my area!

  4. I know this plant by the name of Florida Beauty. But batik bamboo is so apt for us to use here as it does look like batik :-) I have one in my garden too. The leaves are so green and beautiful.

They do have interesting colors. When the stems grow too long, they bend and of course they have to be pruned. I love the sight of new shoots coming out from the cut stems. Will show you later.

Now I know some new terms ...." speckled foliage" and "variegated foliage"... These are ornamental bamboo, normally grown in pots. Even if we grow them on the ground, they wont grow much taller, not even up to our height!

    Thanks, Cheers

  8. Salam. I bought this from IKEA and the name stated on the pot is Florida Beauty. Well, the name has very well described the sight.

  9. It is a pretty plant and I have bought it years ago with the name "Milky Way"! Plants have so many different and funny folks names. I guess if you want the real thing you have to use the Latin name and even those are juggled and changed all the time.
