A colony of red bugs in our garden

Years ago, every time  the kekabu fruits at the back of Mom's House dry up and send fluffy cotton-like material and drop seeds on the ground, these insects will always be around. I cant figure out where they come from and why they hang around the kekabu seeds and the fluffy cotton-like material of kekabu. They dont bite... harmless for such an angry and fiery look with full red colour!

I never see these red bugs in our little vegetable garden before. But this morning, I saw a  colony hiding behind roselle and lemon grass leaves. I assumed they are feeding on the leaves. These leaves could just be the thing they looking after. Huh.., after a month and a half absence, new creature start to pop up in our our garden.

  7. What interesting bugs. Such a bright red color. Do you think it makes them more visible to predators? I too, am glad to see you back.

  8. I hate bugs. I really do. I had a nightmare last night that involved red bugs.

I will say that your photos (I had to skim very quickly!) are very nice though.

I'm glad you're back! Hope you and kakdah are well.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, such a bright red color with striking white mark on both sides. Predators?... who will eat such a gorgeous looking bug?.. they arent many birds around anyway. These bugs seem to hang around the same place. They dont venture out much.

Huh.., some have wings now, and start to pair off.... haha, and they are doing it right in front of me and the camera!!... Thats for the next post!!

  12. Thanks Rainnie for the drop.... They dont bite, they dont sting... for the moment, they are harmless. I have been checking the damage they had done. They chew old roselle leaves... that's OK with me.... haha.
