Keeping seeds

Most gardeners I imagine are guilty of having far too many seeds than needed. Then comes the issue of storing them. The box has been with us for almost two years. I bought a box of chocolates on the way home from overseas trip. Kakdah and the children love chocolates so much, that the whole box was emptied in no time.

That box is reused  to keep seed packets safe and in an almost airtight condition.
Age is catching up,
and the box begin to rust.

where do you keep your seeds?

  1. Dear Bangchik, I am afraid that I have no seed packets so I have no need for a container and at present have given up chocolates for Lent!

  2. Bangchik, I keep my tomato seeds and my pepper seeds separate in two plastic jars (where chocolate roasted almonds were stored before I ate them all). They are clear plastic so I still need to make them opaque. The rest of my seeds are stored in a shoe box. As soon as I eat the next two jars of almonds, I will move the rest of my seeds in there.

  3. Bangchik, this is comical to me as I use a similar tin for seeds, sewing supplies, etc. The only difference is mine are cookie tins. My mother-in-law introduced me to the cookie bin and I've been using them ever since. :)

  4. I keep my seeds in the refrigerator in the produce drawer where I promptly forget about them.

  5. I keep my seeds in old glass canning jars, I like seeing them through the aqua colored glass, and it reminds me to plant them too.

  6. You are right. I am still thinking of a permanent solution for the balanced seeds. It would be a waste not to use them. At the moment, I am just keeping them in a paper storage box.

  7. I keep my seeds in five boring plastic boxes, leafy vegies, legumes, roots, herbs and other things and a fifth box for flower seeds. I think I need to switch to chocolate boxes, maybe I'll pick up some chocolate boxes with the chocolates in them. I'm sure that's what I need!

  10. I keep my seeds in a tin box too! Mine is a Hello Kitty box that contained a sweet yeast bread for xmas. They come in handy for so many uses!
