We may not be aware about some flowers open daytime and close up when night falls. They do have reasons I suppose. The daytime flowers are meant for daytime insects.  I have grown petola before, and the flowers prefer nighttime to open up their petals.
Senduduk is a wild plant. The flowers has that wild beauty. They seem to be following their routine religiously,  open fully around 9 am, and close by about 5 pm. Their routine is almost like normal office hours. Worker of the month should go to senduduk no doubt, month after month on being extremely punctual!

I love that soft and yet wild shade of purple..

  11. Friends, gardeners, bloggers and blotanist. Thanks for your visits and taking time to share your views and thoughts here.

we may look at a great and successful person, and try to emulate his/her passion, enthusiasm and punctuality. But senduduk has been saying that for ages. We are blinded by the beauty, and forget about the values... haha. As always..

We call the plant by a slightly different name where I grew up. KEDUDUK. Everybody refers to that plant by keduduk. Senduduk which sounds a little bit feminine is the standard text-book version.

Whenever a piece of land is cleared, if nothing is done to it, within 6 months, we can see senduduk standing prominently there. Invariably senduduk is the first to grab the soil apart from other smaller weeds and grasses.

Yes, senduduk is available at the nurseries. If you want to be extra adventurous, just stop the car somewhere, and look around by the roadside. There might be one or two, provided you recognise senduduk seedlings. Dont take home oil palm seedlings, hoping purple flowers will emerge later... haha..

Cheers, have a great weekend everyone.
