The big sister of Three Sisters.

Seven sweet corns are gripping down. Days are a little bit windy now,
so I imagine corns are developing roots quickly to stand their ground.

These corns are growing steadily. I saw two little winged bean seedlings, emerging from the ground. In a week, the seedlings will be big enough to make appearance in this blog but then I am no more in Putrajaya to view and take pictures. Pumpkin is no where to be seen. I will not germinate new pumpkin seeds, since the little garden is in the process of winding down. Too bad I have leave for Kelantan and not able to see the eventual look of Three Sisters. It is alright, I can always try it out over in Kelantan soon.

So to make up for the unfinished Three Sisters, I put a few flowers to brighten up today's post. They have grown well after the first appearance of these Periwinkles or kemunting china. The early morning rain freshens up periwinkles, and just look at them, they are winking with bright, heavy and cheerful colour.

  5. Hi Bangchik, may I ask how do you get your Periwinkles to bloom? I have a pot of it but there is no sign of flowers at all. I place my plant under the shade of the bigger Costus plant. Wld that be a problem?

  6. Bangchik, I wish you and Kak Dah a good stay in Kelantan. We will certainly miss your beautiful garden over here, but I think that pretty soon you'll be very busy setting up your new garden over in Kelantan. Looking forward to your post on your new garden!

  7. Your corn looks great! I read that if you mulch around it (?"mounding"?) then the corn grows extra roots out of its stem- might help it to stand strong?

  9. Stephanie ~ thanks, periwinkles are in shady area, 2 metres away from banana plants. Someone else will look after Three Sisters, otherwise they are left to nature.

Malar ~ Not holiday, I am moving to Kelantan. Sorry to hear about your corns.

JGH ~ periwinkles are easy to grow. I love the greenness of the leaves, and flowers too.Corns seem to be alright.

Theanne and Baron ~ thanks, Three Sisters is a simple concept. The timing of each plant has to be precise, so that one will not overrun the rest.

JC ~ A tough question JC, how do i get periwinkles to bloom. Watering and fertilising i guess. Of course the roots require space to spread. Try put the plant out, let the sun bath it.

  10. kitchen flavours ~ I hope kelantan will be kind to my passion in gardening.

_vTg_ ~ the last time I grew corns, extra roots appeared from the lower stem.

delcasmx ~ thanks, new place will offer new opportunity with gardening. Hope for the best.

AaronVFT ~ Corns not too difficult to grow. They love wet and rich soil.

  12. thanks kewee. Sweetcorn is easy to grow, but we can always buy from someone else and keep it the whole season in fridge.
