A person had described the fragrance of the flower as "an intoxicatingly extravagant fragrance ". I had to agree...... and the famous Arabian Nights also mentioned about the Rose of Bakawali.

  9. I've seen posts on this flower before, but never over a period of time like that. I really enjoyed this! Thanks for your dedication to your flower and your blog post!

Did you know that when you upload photos to your blog, you can click on them and make them larger? Some people choose not to, but I sometimes ask folks if they know that.

  26. Thanks everyone for your visits and lovely comments. I dont generally follow progress of blooming with time lapse pictures. But with bunga bakawali, it's a life time experience. I cant gurantee it will bloom again, even if it blooms, i may miss it.

The fragrance filled the whole house, that I can share, but I cant really describe its heavenly fragrance in words....

  27. I have this plant and celebrate when a bud is ready to open. I congratulate you on staying up all night (or do you have a camera rigged to snap every hour?). It is always so sad to see the faded bloom in the morning.
Very intersting fact about it being mentioned in Arabian Nights. The fragrance is incredible!

  38. Can someone tell me the whole story of the night queen, Gul e Bakawali? Please? I am having a hard time finding the story. On Google, everyone says it's an old, well-known beloved tale, but they never tell the story. Maybe because everyone knows it already??? But I don't know it! What is the story?

    1. Unknown..... i heard about Gul e Bakawali appearing in Arabian nights. And the myth of bakawali has been turned into films. I have not read the actual story as in Arabian Nights.
