Fan like leaves.

Nature has a lot in store for us. The variety of plants, shapes, smells, growing habit, the seeds, the stems etc. And yet we know just a few... There are thousands more we never come across during our limited lifetime.

This one is very special, because the leaves are grouped together as a nice leafy fan. This tree was photographed at the edge of Raja Nazrin Bridge as we were having a short break on the way to Putrajaya from Gerik. That was Lenggong area ........

Thanks, most plants are amazing. But those we are so used to, seeing them everyday soon lose their Wow Factor!, and thats how things go... I guess.

But the above plant, is truly amazing, especially the leaves. The blooms and fruits are typical of palms'

  10. Hi, Bangchik, Could it be some kind of Schleffera or umbrella plant? I found an image online that looks somewhat similar. Don't know if the link will take you there, but:

  12. Me again. Sorry, not "Schleffera" but "Shefflera". Label me helpful but careless.

  13. What you say is so true... nature is so rich and we will most likely never know all the millions of plants growing on this planet... many lost each day to our abuse and misuse of our world. Your pictures are fabulous! To see this tree from your imagination is a treat! It sure is a wow one and what a lovely setting. Thanks for sharing. One more plant I have come to know of because of your post.

  14. BangChik, I like the scene where you stop for your rest. The lake on the foreground and the beautiful mountain at the back, make this place so suitable for a picnic. May I ask is the lake located in Lenggong?

  15. > Friends... Bloggers... Blotanists and Gardeners,

Shefflera could just be about right... The tree simply shoot straight up without any branch. I cant tell if it will ever branch out. The height of that tree is about 10 feet. I know it will grow a alot bigger and taller.

The lake is called Tasik Raban. Many years ago, the road from Kuala Kangsar to Gerik was toturous; bend and meander like snakes. It was straightened up during 90's and widened along a slightly different route/alignment. To view things at leaisure, the old road is a lot better, but the present route is definitely suitable for people in a hurry!!

    Cheers!
