Gardening, a hobby

At least gardening will make us walk, bend, and move. These are basic movements that everyone has to get used to, to get muscle, blood and heart to their optimum. Some are lucky where they have to move around and climb up stairs while working. Some just sit on the chair throughout with slight movements of fingers at the keyboard.

Gardening allows limbs to function as it was designed, to bring both of us around the garden, doing things what a hobby gardener would normally do.

  1. I am trying to grow sweet potato leaves too - did you grow yours from seed?

    1. Jo jo...... From sweet potato quarters. Potato is cut into 4, and each one used as "seeds". They produce roots and shoots in no time in wet environment.

  2. Thanks for the pineapple pic - I don't think I've ever seen them growing before - even though I've been to Hawaii. Lovely.
And that passionflower bloom, I need to try another plant.

    1. Thanks... Both pineapples and passionflower are exotic.... But overhere, we them everyday, they become very ordinary.

  3. Wow! Never knew the passionfruit flower is so beautiful!! Maybe that's how the plant derived its name from, LOL.
Couldn't agree with you more Bangchik. When I'm feeling under the weather, all I need to do is to peek into the garden and do a bit of movement here and there and I'll be sweating profusely and back on my feet in no time.

  4. You are very right that gardening keeps us moving and healthy! Your pictures are so interesting, we only receive the fruit in the grocery store and never get a chance to see what the original plant looks like. Their flowers are gorgeous!

  5. Now I feel guilty for sitting at my computer reading blogs! Of course, you're absolutely right - gardening makes us feel so much better so long as we don't overdo it. I like your mixed veggie garden and the sweet potato flowers are gorgeous. I'm going outside now - you have inspired me!

  6. Gardening also help to make baby delivery easier. Pregnant with my second son I was gardening the whole day squatting and crouching like a tiger around the garden and by midnight the contraction came so fast and by the time we reached the hospital he was out in 15 minutes.

  7. How fun to be able to grow pineapples! Passionfruit blooms are so interesting. I think I could look at them for hours and still not be able to see every detail.

    1. HolleyGarden:...... I can imagine your feelings about pineapples and passionfruits. Tropical fruits are truly paradise....... :). We were born here so most are fairly common. We would not blink at pictures of apples hanging on the tree and juicy looking strawberries that we could not possibly grow here!!!!. Have a nice day.....
