Miracle Berries - it wasn't long, February to April.

It is a way to understand miracle berry better. I have never followed closely the time taken for  red ripe miracle berry to appear after initial buds forming. I search through my old photos and try to assess. I found out, there wasn't  many photos to show in March 2014, since I had been out of town many times.

So it doesn't take too long for berries to ripen after the appearance of buds.  and the next observation will focus on how long will the plant rest, before it collects enough nutrients to sprout little buds.

Weeds - mostly unwanted, but a necessity.

A friend once mentioned this " Once a weed, now a veggie that feed the whole world ".  Weeds are here for a reason, they keep growing without our care and attention. They may not fit well in a garden, but they definitely fit well within the big eco-system.

The first weed is of climbing type. 

It will climb any tree to the highest point,

 and build a dense canopy.

The second weed never grow tall. 

They will not reach a foot high.  In a way, they act as ground cover, 

keeping the soil moist and healthy.

We don't know where the weeds come from, definitely we never specifically grow and nurture them. No matter how often we do weeding, they will surely come back.  I suppose we got to be friendly with them, and understand their purpose { Great Stems} of existence here on earth.

The end of a phase. - Bakawali

Bakawali flower buds decided to bloom the same night on 11th of April 2014.  We didn't take the pots inside to view the blooming process. However, the night earlier, we did take one small pot in, enjoying the fragrance of one blooming bakawali.  When all the five flowers bloomed the following night, we went out once a while to view the beauty and fragrance. The bakawali giveaways kept by Farah our eldest daughter in Jitra also bloomed the same night. And so did another plant kept by Siti in Bangi.  I suppose plants talk to their siblings and plan for blooming surprise at three different locations.

I took pictures the next morning, 

when flowering process was all over. 

The stalks limped, 

straightened 

by sheer pull of gravity.

After a week, the whole flower from stalk to petals dry up.

 It would be a matter of time before the whole thing drop off 

as residue of beauty and exotic fragrance.

It is at this stage, that bakawali flowers are said to have medicinal value.  

 I have never tried though

a rare special treat.

Life is funny. Kids are happy in the most deprived homes and other kids are equally happy in better off homes. And  there would be people, living through difficult lives finding no joy till the end. I thought happiness is always about  NOW. The past stays as memory, the future is a mental projection.

The post today is about Kangkung, a simple plant. It can grow happily in a clogged dirty drain, and it can also grow well in neat rows in the most immaculate vegetable plot.  I grow them in pots...... special pots. I don't know, but I have tried to give kangkung a rare special treat, a nice home, a happy home, a well decorated pot........

Any story has it's beginning. The plants were germinated on the 8th of February 2014,  Within the next two days, little white roots appeared.

Our kangkung had gone through several harvests, and they keep springing back and be ready for the next harvest. They had been with us for two months. We hope kangkung will stay happy for another week before the final pull out harvest. Other seedlings are waiting for their turn. 

It's a rare special treat. 

What kangkung had offered to us and what we had done to them.
