Earlier post mentioned about strong winds bringing down marigolds and ulam raja.. But they continue to survive in their own ways. Ulam raja doesn't seem to produce roots at the grounded stem, whereas marigolds produce roots at the bent part of the stem. I cut off two branches of marigolds and place them somewhere else to check if propagation can be done that way. After three days of withdrawal, the two cuttings of marigold seem to hang on.... I will do a post later to highlight their progress.

ReplyDeleteInteresting about the marigolds rooting where they fell. Such cheerful flowers, I think. Do report on the progress of the cuttings.
Never knew that marigold could be propagated that way, it would be faster than waiting for the seeds, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteAnxious to know how the cuttings do... these are some of my favorite flowers - they bloom all summer here. But I don't think they are re-seeding themselves. I love the way the leaves smell, too.

ReplyDeleteThought all gardeners would like to know of a brilliant and BEST Slug control method on the market today ...I like you and most gardeners suffer from slugs and snails in this damp weather and in fact now that the climate has changed we have the slug and snail problem all year round, I have tried beer traps, copper tape after 5 days has no affect as it builds up an anodised coating, also tried salt, egg shells, even throwing them in my neighbours garden ( just kidding ) etc,etc all these methods are not practical long lasting and are harmful to our wildlife. recently I Designed and manufactured a new device to control slugs and snails called the slugbell and found it to be absolutely brilliant at controlling them I have now placed slugbells around my flower and vegetable garden ,here is the web page www.slugbell.com they use both Organic or Normal Metaldehyde bug pellets and that the small amount of pellets needed will last up to three months.!!! as they don’t dissolve in the soil and are pet i.e. Cat , Dog and wildlife Safe Brilliant for pet owners ,It is also the most attractive.. I am Extreamly pleased with The Slug Bell.. I will try anything to keep my garden looking how it should whilst protecting natures cycle
