Sweet peas: a failed attempt.

The story of sweet peas is a sad one in here. That's about as far as it can go. Then it wilts and dies the next morning. Gardening is not all about bucketful bounty, pretty flowers and juicy fruits. A sad one will come in intermittently to complete the flavor of gardening. Seeds are still available, and I do have the responsibility to complete the test that  seeds from Sweden can really see the light of the day here in Putrajaya.

  1. Maybe it's too hot? Peas like cool weather to grow.

  7. What a shame. Perhaps you could try growing them in containers where you will be able to move them into shade and away from the hot sun.

  8. David in Kansas ~ It probably is too hot. We did water them well. The soil was well watered, creating a cooler base, but the sun is continuously showering hot rays onto the leaves, and the whole plant.

Janet ~ thanks janet, firstly i will play around with cooler location. I have determined a few suitable location, a little bit shady, but i have to sacrifice the degree of exposure to the sun.

Noelle ~ Thanks, i am not about to give up yet.... working on a suitable plan to handling sweet peas.

Stephanie ~ Memories of schooldays science lab work will help.

gittan ~ thanks gittan, I will check it out and work out something.

Jo~ An excellent idea, putting them into container and move around to beat the scorching sun.

  10. I've been growing sweet peas since January. They are ready to be staked up, but I went ahead and ordered some plants anyway, just in case my seedlings don't make it. There are also sweet pea seeds for containers. Mine are just now coming up so don't know how well they will do. I'm sorry about your sweet pea. They are such beautiful flowers and the fragrance----wonderful!

  11. Green Iris ~ To start with, sweet pea is meant for cooler places, as much as coconut for tropical areas. The fact that the plant has grown is a positive sign that it will grow again here. I probably have to ensure that it grows to maturity. Tips and ideas from friends very much welcome.
