gynura procumbens, sambung nyawa

It's gynura procumbens or simply "sambung nyawa" in our language. Allow me to scrutinize the name sambung nyawa. Sambung is continue, nyawa is life.  The name  "sambung nyawa" itself does emphasize the benefits of this gynura procumbens. I bought the first plant many years ago, and many had been propagated, some were sold and most ended as giveaways to friends and visitors. So gynura procumbens or sambung nyawa (continuity of life) lives up to its name, connecting friendships near and far with it's value :-

The leaf is said to have the ability to lower blood pressure and sugar levels, to treat diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol imbalances

I am now propagating hundreds of them......

    1. stephanie: great herb indeed. so easy to grow like ulam raja too, and I assume no one should die or suffer from vegetable malnutrition.

cak: everyone living in tropical areas should have one.

  4. I've not heard of this herb - sounds an essential staple in your climate, I wonder if it would grow here? I think probably it would need lots of watering?

    1. catmint:....... the plant is quite energetic and will keep growing. It requires watering regularly especially in pots. On the ground, the plant will survive somehow searching for it's own water and food. Partial sunlight is what the plant really looking for. I think you should consider growing this marvelous herb.
