Rose, Kakdah's treasure

Roses do influence Kakdah's mood. I can safely conclude that after years living with Kakdah and plants. The rose opened up yesterday displaying layers of pinkish petals. I always find it difficult to describe fragrance or scents even though we had been keeping roses for years.

It seems roses had been around for millions of years and the first mention of them and their appearance in artistic motifs was in Asia some 3500 years ago. The fragrance of roses was valued by the Romans and they used roses to scent rooms and after bathing. Cleopatra supposedly filled a room over a foot deep with rose petals while wooing Marc Anthony. The two main roses used during the era were the Damask and Gallica types

Rose blooming,  coincides with Kakdah's almost perfect mood.

Rose, dense and beautiful.

Kakdah and blooming rose has something in common......
that I will not elaborate further. haha.

a yellow rose.

The yellow rose is flowering,  fresh looking and really make Kakdah very happy. I can almost tell whenever something was  blooming outside, when she opened the door early in the morning and shouted "look, my flower is blooming!". The emotional outburst is identical every time. I also accept her claim of "my flower is blooming". Flowering plants are legally hers, as vegetables mine.

It was early last year, that I went up to Cameron Highlands with friends. Kakdah did not follow. We went up to negotiate with Selvaraja for rooftop gardening watering system. It is always cheap up there. I bought two potted roses for kakdah, yellow and red. The red rose did not last long, died within a month. The yellow rose survive til today, still in the same pot. So this yellow is quite a survivor, alright in it's original place Cameron Highland, alright in Tanah Merah our former place, and still alright here in Johor, coping well after 12 hours journey from Tanah Merah to Johor end of last year.

The yellow rose is sweet, very fresh indeed.
On beauty,
Kakdah could narrate
better either in words
or feeling.

Missing the best part, Roses.

the first bloom of pink rose

Kakdah was very exited with the first bloom. Whenever we were out of the house, she would rush to the  flower and she looked like the happiest wife, mother and grandmother on earth. Then I got to go to Cherating for a few days, taking her along, leaving roses and the whole garden to nature.

Back from the trip, she practically shouted exclaiming " No less than 30 roses!!" as we got out of the car. Some had passed their prime time. She never had so many roses from a single plant before and yet she terribly missed the best part, seeing buds taking turn to open and bloom happily.

and most had passed their prime time.

Roses clustering, best ever.

Kakdah held the blooming roses close to her nose. She said, her roses bloomed better in Tanah Merah, much bigger and smell sweeter. The extensive pruning prior to the long 7 hour journey from Putrajaya to Tanah Merah must have done the trick. Lot of crushed egg shells, sunnier location and cooler climate encourage the blooming fiesta further.
