The big sister of Three Sisters.

Seven sweet corns are gripping down. Days are a little bit windy now,
so I imagine corns are developing roots quickly to stand their ground.

These corns are growing steadily. I saw two little winged bean seedlings, emerging from the ground. In a week, the seedlings will be big enough to make appearance in this blog but then I am no more in Putrajaya to view and take pictures. Pumpkin is no where to be seen. I will not germinate new pumpkin seeds, since the little garden is in the process of winding down. Too bad I have leave for Kelantan and not able to see the eventual look of Three Sisters. It is alright, I can always try it out over in Kelantan soon.

So to make up for the unfinished Three Sisters, I put a few flowers to brighten up today's post. They have grown well after the first appearance of these Periwinkles or kemunting china. The early morning rain freshens up periwinkles, and just look at them, they are winking with bright, heavy and cheerful colour.

Chillies taking shape

The chillies are taking shape. They are growing, and new blooms keep coming. We had just picked the last sweetcorn and pulled out the corn stalks, leaving the place with more sun and space. I guess the blooming chillies will love the improved surrounding with the departure of their neighbor, the sweetcorns!!

I love this shot!!
It does remind me of something... haha

Should I pluck the corns now?

Should I pluck now or wait a little bit longer......?

Sweet corns [ jagung manis]:

the tip of the hairs has turned light brown...

I suppose, to wait a while longer wont spoil the taste of my sweet corns...

Corns hair getting longer

It is only 6 sweetcorn plants, but they give such great pleasure just by looking at their progress. As the plants are blooming, and corns coming out, more and more roots come out from the lower nodes, to give extra support!

the fine hairs
swaying to the tune of the wind.
I call the color of hairs as light yellow.

hairs will come out soon.
I noticed ants climbing up and stayed around the baby corn.
I suppose they smell something sweet!!

more roots developing
in anticipation of
heavier weight upstairs
due to corns
developing at a very fast rate.

The tallest plant is about 9 feet top to bottom.... and the shortest is 5 feet,
also blooming.

Sweetcorns bathed in silver !

Sunset is visibly clear from the porch. Sunrise on the other hand is at the other side of the house, and the view is hindered by houses and trees. Therefore sunset is more easily snapped by our Sony camera.... rainfield61 did warn us (as comment here sunset at the equator.) about not paying equal attention to sunrise....

I take this opportunity to give updates on our 6 sweetcorns as well.

While Laura was worried about wet weather and delayed planting of sweetcorns, we bath blooming sweetcorns in Silver .....
It would not be long before the corn's fine hairs emerge....

A Beautiful Sunset ~ as sun is going down.

Just came back from Pahang....., this stunning sky caught my attention .... and I thought, those not very familiar with this part of the world, may want to see what we are seeing everyday around 7.30pm.... a sunset!!... Today's sunset is a little bit silvery.. Here you are, live from Putrajaya, Malaysia!

Sweet Corns
inching in for a little bit of limelight!!
of course made visible
with the help of flash from the camera.
Sweet corns are much bigger now....

How is sunset in your place?..... Silvery too?

sweet corns growing at an angle

I noticed changes in leaves texture as sweet corns grew taller .... Now becoming very silky and shiny. Two of them grew straight and healthy and the rest at an angle .... I am trying to reason out for such a behaviour .... Possibly the soil is a bit soft, and therefore the roots cant hold plants verticality. The stems simply slide out of the earlier leaves ....... But I do notice how the plants are trying to make corrections. I can almost see the changes everyday, where the inclined stems are in jovial mood to correct the inclined angle .... and becoming more vertical ....
