Matching up roselles against marigolds

red roselle and yellow marigold.

the blurry background is ixora.

roselle and marigolds are real companions.

I keep on coming to these marigolds. They are immediate companions of roselles. We relax a little bit on roselles, and now the branches are drooping down, heavy with strikingly red colored fruits. Marigolds are flowering making the lower end of vegetable bed really multi-coloured.

  2. A good combo, banchik! I love growing marigolds with veggies, most of all. Usually the chipmunks eat all my marigolds but for some reason they left them alone this year. :)

Roselles are very much edible, not taken raw, but boiled and blended for juice. Add a little bit of sugar and further boiled, we will get jam.

I don't know if anybody really eat marigolds, leaves or flowers. But snails love marigolds young shoots..... they practically lick them dry!!.....

Marigold flowers are not in the same league with orchids and zinnias on beauty... but their little yellow dots put perspective into gardens. Their smell is very herbal!!...

    Cheers and thank you everyone

When we make our own fruit juice and jam, the taste is somewhat different. Home made is exquisite! Those from the supermarkets are meant to last for a year or so, if you know what I mean... preservatives and anything they can put in to make juice and jam last longer than what is necessary. Business is about profit in mind. Home made is about satisfaction!!

There are so many colours for combination. Red and yellow is a real contrast, therefore very striking... I love growing vegetables, but flowers are new to me.... For now I feel very much at ease toying with common flowers.. easily available , both steady and sturdy!
