Zinnia, the second batch from seeds collected from the earlier plants. The first batch grew so tall almost 4 feet. These are much shorter, about 2 and a half feet tall. I wasn't as enthusiastic as before about fertilizing on these new batches, resulting in lesser height. And the height suits the setting well, easing well with serai (lemon grass) grown nearby.

What a beautiful color they are! The only color in our garden now is white. Everything is frozen and covered in snow.
ReplyDeletei love that color! just beautiful. right now we are all brown and sad looking thanks to the frosts, winter, etc..;) that color makes me excited about the zinnias this spring though, one of my favorite flowers. thanks so much for sharing and happy new year!
ReplyDeleteZinnias are a super plant! Love your bloom color.
ReplyDeleteI prefer them when they are about that height rather than being 4ft high.
ReplyDeleteLemon grass? I could plant that with zinnias, come summer. Right now, there's a pot of lemon grass in the greenhouse for the delight of the animals. Both dog and cat love to chew the leaves.
ReplyDeleteMy zinnia seeds are packaged and waiting for warm weather to return. It seems so far off.
What a pretty one. Wow, your first blooms were tall. Need all the red I can get this winter day ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the beauty.
I'd love to have this bright red colour for my new year. Very auspicious.
ReplyDeleteI have never met a Zinnia I didn't like!!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove that color right now! Of course, red just happens to be my favorite color, but, oh my, red in the middle of winter, how nice.

I just love the deep red color. They brighten up gardens so much. I am glad you were able to get them at the right height. I hope for you a very Happy 2010.
ReplyDeleteYou see, everybody likes to have red colours and red flowers. So am I.
ReplyDeleteSend me some, please.
That red is beautiful! Not common around the gardens here. I'd love to scout around for that colour.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR!!
It’s so refreshing to see these lovely flowers. We have been having rain for 2 days, temperatures around freezing (so it should start to snow) and mud everywhere I go.

Thanks friends....
We are actually having both feet into year 2010. No more 2009. Zinnia's color being very distinctive and rich probably symbolize what's coming in days, weeks and months to come. A year full of distinctive success. Lets hope for a better year, and a richer year.
lets try it out... having zinnia to brighten up your garden and paint a new look. Lets give zinnia new friends, lemon grass or whatever.
Well said! " I have never met a Zinnia I didn't like!!! Beautiful."... thanks Darla.
Cheers....,
~bangchik and kakdah.
Wonderful color! I love Zinnias! How lucky you are to be growing! It is snowing here and therefore more of a joy to see your lovely Zinnia Bangchik!
ReplyDeleteSeeing zinnias makes me think of sunny and warm days. Those are some really pretty ones!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carol and Catherine..... its not summer yet here... just like a warm winter with light rains every afternoon almost... haha... Yes, zinnia really warms any garden, anywhere. ~bangchik
