Red leaf of senduduk

senduduk
melastoma

This particular senduduk's leaf caught my eye one morning. Full bright red leaf!!... Wait a minute or two, the leaf will drop and fall on the ground below where worms are waiting .... as most will, as any living things will as they are getting to the end of the tunnel.

But this is not autumn where trees voluntarily turn the leaves  yellow, red and brown. This red leaf is just a glimpse of alluring autumn we never had... hmm.

and of course, there are other leaves of similar color
but not as bright

even the weather is a little bit chilly now...

  3. Leaves are beginning to turn here in southeastern USA...poison ivy...particularly noxious if you're allergic to the sap...turns a beautiful red in the autumn. You can find a picture on my "Flora and Fauna around our home" website http://grantiqueandyaya.com

  4. That red leaf is pretty, it really stands out. I agree, in a blink of an eye, it will fall on the ground and be forgotten... but your camera and this blog has immortalized it, now it is still here for us to enjoy, albeit in photograph only.

  10. Our autumn in Virginia has just started. It is long and slow, with many weeks of cool nights 50-60 degrees F and warm days 70-80F. So many pretty colors. Thank you for posting your photos!

  11. These leaves begin to tell you many stories, as long as you spend enough time with them.

Thanks for the lovely comments as always. A hint of autumn we never had. The northern most part of the country may experience pronounced seasonal change but never as distinct as what Europe is experiencing. The little seasonal change deviates just a bit around HOT, HUMID and WET climate.

Putrajaya is just the same. 3 to 4 days without rain is enough to put pressure to most plants and gardeners. The browning or reddening of leaves I guess is an effort by plants to reduce the burden of keeping too many leaves. In prolonged hot environment, some leaves has to go. The leaves dropped, somehow will form a natural mulch around the base or the trunk, thus reducing further soil evaporation...

At least thats what I think, to understand the behaviour of sudden urge of leaves browning and reddening in our place.

Of course as RAINNIE puts it leaves do tell stories....

    Cheers everyone

Thanks. There bound to be one, the best of the whole lot; a leaf, a flower, a fruit, a gardener.... sometimes we take things for granted, like a husband/wife as the best friend we ever had........ hmm. ~bangchik

  17. Thanks for the visit RedStudio. We don't have to go extra mile to see something attractive. Most are around us, laying idle and taken for granted..........
