The stems are becoming a little bit pinky lately. The outer layer, after the recent hot spell, dry up and peel off exposing the new skin, smooth and pink in color. So I was talking to Kakdah about our bananas blushing .....
The wild banana .... How three baby bananas grow and survive within a new environment since early last year... Now they are producing third generation babies ....

Sometimes I wish I could grow plants like bananas!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the same thing!
ReplyDeleteI can grow a banana tree here that will be perennial, but just for foliage. All the fruit producers need a hotter climate -- like yours. What a sweet concept of blushing bananas!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been on your blog for some time and am pleased how your garden is growing.
ReplyDeleteI think the pink tinge to it's stem makes a great contrast to the leaves.

Not all banana has pink tinge to its stem... in fact most is light green.
I am glad that my garden is progressing well, and of course there are disturbances like snails, tomato wilting, caterpillars and grasshoppers. I know they will keep coming. We just handle things as it comes,
Lately our chillies not doing too well, they are fruiting alright but with awkward shapes, very acrobatic Kakdah said...
So what you cant grow in your climate, you just feel satisfied by visiting my blog...
Cheers!

Your banana trees look so healthy, did you use the banana to make some dessert?
ReplyDeleteHi Bangchik, lately the weather is so unpredictable also. It has been hot but suddenly last two days it rain here. And, for the past one week, the haze has been obstructing the sunlight. So some of my plants is showing sign of 'dissatisfaction'. I hope the pink trunks will not dry up and that all the banana trees will be fine.

Yes, we can use banana for dessert... raw, fried, cake, pudding. We also use banana in cooking, like curry etc....
So far, plants in my garden hasnt suffered much, Regular watering keeps them happy and contented. So far so good.

Banana is nice eaten raw, or modified into ice cream and dessert. We fry them, put the young ones into curry.... So many ways of handling banana.
